Educational Background
Dr. April N. Hopson graduated summa cum laude as a Doctor of Chiropractic from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles, California. She was selected as class Valedictorian and earned the prestigious Clinic Excellence Award. Dr. Hopson has also received several other awards for her work in the field of nutrition and cervical spine syndromes. She has training and experience using a variety of chiropractic and healing techniques including: Cox flexion-distraction, McKenzie extension protocol, Diversified, Sacral-Occipital technique, Gonstead, Myofascial Active Release, physiotherapy, and problem-focused rehabilitation. Prior to becoming a Chiropractor, April Hopson attended the University of New Mexico, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.
Previous Experience
Dr. Hopson worked as a Chiropractor at The Morris Spine and Sports Medicine Center, located in Santa Monica, California. She had the unique opportunity to work with and treat members of the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Team.
Her techniques focus on addressing individual needs, as well as providing patient education that can be utilized either on-the-job or in an active environment. While specializing in the treatment of chronic and acute musculoskeletal injuries, Dr. Hopson incorporates rehabilitative and therapeutic exercises as part of her treatment protocol. Her approach to spinal care seeks to establish stability and strength in order to prevent future injuries.
Dr. April Hopson has also developed injury prevention programs with Curves Gym for Women, including recommended workout regimens individualized for clients with different musculoskeletal ailments. She was also an assistant instructor at Cleveland Chiropractic College for the kinetic palpation course.
Other Interests
Dr. Hopson is a member of the American Chiropractic Association and continues to expand her knowledge through postgraduate courses in the areas of sports medicine and rehabilitation.
She has a strong passion for athletics as well. She was a nationally ranked soccer player representing the University of New Mexico and played on the Croatian National Team in Europe.
Dr. Hopson grew up in Simi Valley, California. She met her husband, Dr. Edwin Hopson, at Cleveland Chiropractic College. They look forward to raising their family in Louisville.
