CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY AND REIKI

MARY WELP

What to expect: Energy Balancing
CranioSacral Therapy and Reiki are gentle, non-invasive techniques that are based on the principle that our bodies know how to heal themselves. The practitioner listens to the body through palpation, then allows or introduces movement, which will release restrictions. Restrictions are caused by physical or emotional traumas held in cellular memory. The body can essentially "freeze" many kinds of injuries and hold onto them until they are released. Common examples include neck injuries from auto accidents, sports injuries, accidental falls, or birth complications, such as forceps deliveries. Emotional traumas are also stored by the body.

During a treatment, the patient usually lies on a massage table on his or her back and is encouraged to relax to allow the body to unwind. Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, the therapist will release restrictions of the craniosacral system. Different people experience different things during a treatment. Some people see colors or sense a warm feeling or even emotion. Most people feel very relaxed and peaceful after a treatment. When the session is over the client is encouraged to relax on the table for 5 or 10 minutes before getting up. Drinking water after a CranioSacral treatment is also important to help flush out any toxins.
